Recipe: Itch Spray!

Every Resurrection Day, my church does a lovely sunrise service outside in the beautiful spring weather. And every year, I spend much of it shooing mosquitoes, squishing mosquitoes, scratching bites given me by mosquitoes, and constantly running my hands over the arms and legs of my children in the hopes that they won't get bitten by mosquitoes.

So this year I decided I'd be prepared. I got onto Pinterest and searched "itch spray," because there are a lot of awesome graphics with tips, tidbits, and recipes for essential oils. I found one called "Itch-be-Gone," however I didn't have all of the needed ingredients, so after reading through some testimonies on oil-testimonials.com (a life-saver resource for oilers), I decided to change it up a little.

Easter Itch Spray

2 oz witch hazel
5 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops Melaleuca Alternifolia essential oil (commonly known as Tea Tree)
2 drops Thieves essential oil blend (or Clove essential oil!)

Shake it all up in a spray bottle* and mist onto your pesky mosquito bites for some relief!

Of course the mosquitoes would decide not to bother us once this year (-_-) but they love me too much to resist for long, so I've had multiple opportunities to test out my spray, and I am very pleased. Enjoy!

*Glass is best because essential oils leach toxins out of the plastic--you can get them on amazon.com in packs of six or individually from Abundant Health.

Remember, the essential oils I use come from Young Living. Of course you may use whatever brand you prefer, however please remember that not all essential oils can be used in the same ways. Read your labels, know your company, and oil safely! :-)
